Git hosting for teams and agents shipping more code. A diskless Git server backed by blob storage, running right next to Depot CI.
Public beta. Free while in beta.
Source control.
Built for throughput.
Agents and growing teams are hitting Git servers harder than they were designed for. We rebuilt the server underneath Git so compute scales independently of storage.
Same Git. Different infrastructure.
Git stays Git
Clone, push, and fetch with the commands you already know. Use HTTPS and a Depot access token. Keep your editor, tools, and local workflow.
Storage without the file server
Packfiles and indexes live in blob storage. Refs and metadata live in a transactional store. Repositories aren’t tied to a persistent Git file server.
Compute that scales separately
Stateless Git workers scale horizontally. Read and write capacity can grow independently of the amount of code you store.
Your repo. Your way in.
Try Depot alongside GitHub or host a repository directly on Depot. Both paths use the same Git workflow.
Keep GitHub. Bring the code closer.
Create a mirror of a GitHub repository. Depot serves clones and fetches from its own infrastructure, and pushes through Depot are forwarded to GitHub. Your upstream stays the source of truth.
Changes from GitHub are imported when the mirror is refreshed.
Create a repositorycode / terminal
# Create a mirror in the Depot dashboard, then
# add Depot alongside your existing origin
git remote add depot \
https://x-token@<org-id>.code.depot.dev/team/app
# Fetch through Depot
git fetch depot
# Push through Depot to GitHub
git push depot mainSeparate the storage.
Scale the work.
The Git protocol stays familiar. Underneath, Depot separates Git operations from durable storage so the server doesn’t have to carry the repository on local disk.

Keep source control and CI on the same infrastructure. Depot CI serves clones and fetches from Depot Code, avoiding the round-trip to GitHub for that work.

- uses: actions/checkout@v4
- run: npm ci

Define workflows in .depot/workflows/ using GitHub Actions YAML syntax. Push a commit and the run starts.
Push triggers work for both mirrors and standalone repositories. Workflows that rely on GitHub-specific features may need changes; check the compatibility reference.
Good to know.
